Who are we

NISSE stands for National Institute for the Social Security of the Self-employed.
We are a federal government service that supervises social security of self-employed persons.
The RSVZ was founded on 1 January 1971 (law of 21 December 1970).
In a nutshell, as a public social security service we look after your interests and take care of your social status as a self-employed person. For that, you can rely on the expertise of some 800 employees.

The NISSE is a decentralised government institution. Central management is located in the heart of Brussels.
Moreover, we have 12 branch offices, all over the country.

The NISSE also has its own social security fund,  the National Fund, which, just like any other fund, ensures the correct application of social legislation and which can look after your interests.
