Self-employed persons and apprentices coming to work temporarily/partially in Belgium,
irrespective of whether they are subject to the Belgian social security system, must declare this to the
authorities in advance by submitting the Limosa declaration. This obligation has been
in force since 1 April 2007 .
There are exceptions to the general obligation. They depend mainly on the reason for coming to Belgium
and the length of the stay.
Exemptions:
- international transport
- scientificcongresses and meeting in a closedcircle
- installation and assembly of goods
- essentialmaintenanceorrepairwork
- self-employedbusinessmen
- sportsmen and women
- artists
- diplomats
- international institutions
